Painting #19 Garden Observation II

The painting of the day... another Garden Observation. I have a slight twinge of guilt. I was going to start working on more commission pieces today, but I went outside this morning and was greeted by bushes and bushes of camellias. They are so beautiful right now! I promise, I’ll start working on the many wonderful commission photographs I’ve received on Monday. If you have a photograph you would like me to paint, please email it to me!  But for now, I present to you "Garden Observation II".  It is a 10x8.25 inch oil painting.
This painting will be listed on my Etsy page for $19.00! EmilyJeffords.etsy.com or, you can email me to claim this painting.

You must come back tomorrow afternoon to see the new line of collages I am featuring!

Hold On! Oil Painting #18

Tonight Dan and I watched an episode of House online. It was about this lady who, along with being horribly ill, was obsessed with her blog. Dan and I both agreed that can never be me. I can see how it would be very easy to become so engrossed in a blog. It’s freeing to just talk out loud, to no one in particular. I like it. But not that much.

I just gave my daughter a bite of cookie, and she spit it right back out. Good girl. Keep that chubby waist line…  cutie pie!  ; )

Here is painting #18! A rendering of some of the most lovely little orchids ever. Dan brought home a tinsy tiny orchid plant, in a tiny pot. It was darling. Thankfully I took a photo and now have a painting of it, because my green thumb, which is not very green anyways, turns black when it comes to orchids. I’ll just stick to painting I guess. This painting is one of my special favorites. I just love dark, simple backgrounds! It is a 4.75 x 6.5 inch oil painting. I called “Hold On” partly because I wanted this little plant to live for more than a month, and partly because I listened to that song by Michael Buble way to many times while painting it.

Email me, or go to EmilyJeffords.etsy.com to buy it! Only $18

Also! I am announcing the official debut of a new series of black and white lanscape collages on Saturday, along with painting #20.  Stay tune!  It's exciting!  (But come back tomorrow too, to see painting #19... Of course.)

Painting #17 Butterfly Bush

Happy St. Patrick’s day to you! I’m sorry this painting isn’t more festive. I thought about it… I thought I could paint a little green guy, or a rainbow with a pot of gold… but it just wasn’t doing it for me. Sorry. Actually, I’ve never been a huge St. Patties day enthusiast, and not for lack of trying. I even bought a shirt a couple years ago, just for March 17th. I am wearing a green shirt today. Don’t pinch me. I hate being pinched.
Here is the not-so-festive-but-still-very-special oil painting-of-the-day! (That was kind of fun!) It is a 5.75x8 inch painting of some a bright red butterfly bush, with a dark butterfly in the left-hand corner. I love the dark background. It is so moody and dramatic. Also, I painted the edges so you don’t have to frame it if you don’t want to. Nice little bonus!

If you would like to purchase this painting to add a little color and drama to your home, go to my etsy shop. EmilyJeffords.etsy.com
Enjoy your St. Patrick’s day! Come back tomorrow to see painting #18!

Painting #16 Watercolor Gardens at Furman

Can I just say that I love Pandora Radio? It has rejuvenated my tired, creatively drained heart many times. I think I have at least 20 “stations”. What is your favorite station? I love discovering new music!

On that note (ha, ha), I give you a painting that took me WAY to long to complete. I simply didn't feel like painting today. I knew this day would come... I mean, who feels like doing anything 365 times with out a break! Even eating ice cream would get old!
But, after much labor, I give you painting #16. This painting holds many memories for me; sunny days, friends, beautiful places, escaping, picnics, mocha frappuccinos… I used to go to Furman University with my room mates and friends from college (is it odd to go from one college to another to “escape”?) We had so much fun relaxing in the gardens on sunny days. On cooler days, when the lighting is just right, we would make a photo shoot out of it. Good times… The gardens at Furman are so beautiful! I included a photograph with this post so you can see this lovely place in “real life”.
This is a smaller watercolor. It is 4x6 and would look lovely framed in a simple black frame with a white matte, but I’ll leave that up to your creative genius.

As always, if you would like to show off this little watercolor garden  in your home, go to my online shop. EmilyJeffords.etsy.com

I love to hear feedback from you! Thoughts? Comments? Favorite Stations? ; )

Painting #15 Nature Trail Watercolor

Finally! We are home after a short, but very tiring, trip to Ohio. It was so good to sleep in my own bed last night… and I got to sleep in! Getting back in to the “swing” of things is going to take at least one more day. I’m so worn out physically and emotionally. Annalisa has been such a good baby! You would never guess that she spent over 35 hours in the car over the last couple days. What a perfect baby I have! I am sorry I don’t have any photographs from the trip to post. It wasn’t really one I want to remember. I did however, see many, many miles of lovely landscapes! I took several snapshots with my phone. We’ll see if any of them hit the drawing board.
This painting was very refreshing to paint. I painted it while instructing my students on “the art of watercolor” So you better think it’s good or I’ll feel sorry for my students and start to rethink my ability to teach! ; ) Not really. I love teaching to much to give it up that easily.

It is a watercolor of some branches I saw on a walk with my husband (hence the name "Nature Trail"). I love their shape and all the subtle colors each leaf held. I love the effects I get with watercolor paints. I think of each different shade as a little shape, then stack all the shapes in layers of colors. It’s a lot of fun. This is a 9x11 inch painting on fine watercolor paper. And, because this is day 15, it is only $15! If you would like to buy this painting, please visit my Etsy shop! EmilyJeffords.etsy.com

I would love any comments you may have! Check back tomorrow for painting #16!

Painting #14 "Refresh" Oil Painting

I love this little painting! It is one of my very favorite landscapes that I have done so far in the Painting365 project.

I feel like I need to recap this project a little for those who are new to my blog. Painting365 is a project I began on March 1st, 2010 that will continue until March 1st, 2011. I am doing one painting each day, totaling 365 paintings! These paintings are being sold for the amount of the day's number. For instance, the painting I create on day 102 will cost $102.00

I am very excited about all the paintings rattling around in my head. I am also accepting commissions! I've gotten many photographs of places and scenes that are special to you. If you would like to have a beautiful painting of your special vacation, backyard, childhood home, garden close-ups... anything that is near and dear to you, send the photo to me in an email and I'll put it in the line up!

This is a great opportunity for you to get a very personal masterpiece for a great price!

Well, contrary to my previous post, we are NOT HOME yet.... ; ( We are, however, on our way home now. Thank goodness! I am so ready to be back in my own home, back to our normal schedule. It has not been a restful trip at all. But, it has been good to help my mother-in-law and grandmother pack and move. I think they will like their new home very much.

Have a blessed Sunday!

PS. I'm so sorry about yesterday's post! I didn't put the picture with the post! I'm so embarrassed. So, of course, it's still for sale and now there is a picture.

Painting #13 "Changes" Oil painting

Ya! We’re home! Normal life may now resume. Not that I really know what that is! It seems that ever since I went to college my life has been constantly changing, molding into something, I’m not really sure what it is yet. I do know that I love my husband and will be with him forever, and I love my daughter who lights up the house with her squeals. Beyond that, it’s up to God.

But, it’s good to be home.
But, down to business… this painting, affectionately called “Changes” is a 7.5x9.25” oil painting of a landscape on the verge of summer and fall.
This painting is being listed on day 13 of 365, and therefore will be sold for $13.00! What a steal! If you live in Greenville, and are willing to come by my house to pick up this painting, I will wave the $8 shipping fee. If you would like to buy this painting email me!

Painting #12 "Garden Observation I" an Oil Painting

Normally the fact that I’m charging so little for these paintings doesn’t bother me. I am just thrilled that people like my work and hope you will keep coming back for more! But this painting is different. I’m not really sure why… Maybe it’s the fact that I would normally sell this painting for at least $100. And I really like it. I love flowers! The house we are in right now has gardens all around it and a huge variety of flowers! It’s so much fun for me, as an artist.  I’m sure you will be seeing several more Garden Observations in the months to come!
This is a 6.25 x 9.5 inches oil painting of a beautiful pale pink blossom. Again… I don’t know what kind it is. Any ideas? This painting is being listed on day 12, and therefore will be sold for $12.00! What a steal! If you live in Greenville, and are willing to pick up this painting, I will wave the $8 shipping fee. If you would like to buy this painting email me!

Painting #11 "Revive" an oil painting

[[Written two days ago]] Hello!

Today (if all goes as planned) I will have gone to several concerts and speech recitals and spent time with my wonderful family. My sister, Rebekah, is an incredibly talented violinist, pianist, singer, and speaker. My brother, Matthew, is also very talented on the violin and piano. They are performing in several competitions today. I hope they do well!

My family lives in Findlay, Ohio (for now. They move around a lot...) It's a little city, comprised of a couple large companies, and a ton of farms. This painting reminds me of the very beautiful landscape around Findlay in the early summer. There are so many large fields, bordered by woods. This painting also reminds me of those early days of summer; when it's so warm and sunny and all of nature seems happy and revived.

This painting is an oil landscape in my favorite colors! It's 9x8 inches. I painted the edges red to give it a dramatic flare. If you would like to buy this painting email me!

Theartist.emily@gmail.com

The first person to email me wins! This painting is only $11.00!!! (Plus, $8 for shipping.) If you live in Greenville, you are more than welcome to come by my house and pick it up! We live near downtown, so it's nice and convenient.

As always, I greatly value all comments and critiques of my work. I want to dramatically improve my paintings this year, and your insight is priceless.
Check back tomorrow at 6:00pm for painting #12! It’s one of my favorite ones yet!

Painting #10 Shabby Chic on Green Oil Painting

I'm calling this painting Shabby Chic on Green because I can see it surrounded with all sorts of eclectic furniture, fabrics, and candles… but if that’s not your style, that’s fine. It would also look great in a streamline, modern, clean, metal atmosphere. But beware, it’s ultra girly and pretty, so it’s going to stand out.

It is a 8.25x9.25 inch oil painting of some of my favorite flowers. They are from a huge bush/tree in out yard.  I have no idea what they are called.  If you know, please tell me!  I love showing off these flowers in arrangements.  I had a lot of fun incorporating a realistic foreground with a very abstract background.  And of course, it's green.  I love green...
Email me if you would like to purchase this painting! Theartist.Emily@gmail.com
True to my word, this painting is only $10!!!  If you live outside of Greenville, there will also be a $8 shipping cost.  If you live in Greenville, you are more than welcome to pick it up!
I would also love comments on this painting and ideas for future painting!
