Happy Saturday to you!  Here is one of the paintings I've completed lately.  I've been working on several, completely different pieces this week.  One is green, almost abstract, and nature-inspired, the other is dark, rainy, and red, and this one is simple sweet, and girly.

I love these flower; Camellias.  They are so delicate looking, yet grow in the harshest conditions of mid-winter (well, harsh by South Carolina's standards).  A couple foolish little blooms have shown their faces a little bit too early, so I captured their short lives in paint as quickly.  I know there is no snow yet, and won't be for a while (if ever around here!) But I'm calling this little painting "Snow Flowers" as a tribute to this winter bloom.  This painting is 5x7 and can be found in my shop for a steal!  I think this would be a fantastic Christmas gift for that hard-to-by-for, super-classy person.

This is one of the last oil paintings I'll be doing for a while (that makes me very sad!) My husband, baby, and I are moving out of our home in a couple weeks, and I want to make sure that all the paintings I do will be dry in time.  Watercolors, acrylics, and pen-ink washes to come as well as many, many Christmas cards as I continue to launch my new line!  Check out BeautifulHello!

Painting #40 Sail Away on a Sea of Baby Dreams

Tomorrow is a celebration of boats and babies (at least at the baby shower for Silas Walters). Hence, the sailboat painting! It's a gift for Silas so, I sure hope his mom doesn't check out my blog tonight or tomorrow morning! I love sailing... well, kind of. I love the ocean and sea, but not lakes. I'm not really sure why. It just feel like there is an unlimited amount of nasty fish that might bight my toes, mud, and green, slimy grime (not to be gross or anything). But the ocean... I love. I know this doesn't have anything to do with sailing, but my favorite memory of being out on the ocean was on my honeymoon. My husband and I went jet skiing around 9:30am, and there were still fishing boats docked close to the shore, and they had attracted in about 30 dolphins. It was incredible! We were so close to them that they would come up and slap our jet ski with their tails! It was one of the most beautiful morning ever...
This painting is a 8.75 x 5 “block” oil painting on wood. I had an art show last November/December where I sold several of these dark, simple paintings featuring one object. Sarah saw these and really liked them, and requested one for her baby.
There are a few paintings on my etsy shop that would lighten any room in your house. If you have a boring wall, you need to check out my shop for awesome deals!
Don’t forget about the greatest give-away ever.

Painting #24 Down by the Water - A little Oil painting

Today has been an excellent day. May be it was just the weather (75 and sunny? The best….) and I was able to stay home all day with my daughter, to paint, decorate my art room a little more, go on a nice walk, and do some gardening. Some days I feel more alive than others, and today was one of those days.

I’m posting something I’ve never done before…. Painting progress pictures! It’s kind of fun to see the painting “grow”. This painting was based on a photograph given to me by my dear friend Rebecca. Thanks for sharing this lovely scene Becca! It is an oil painting on a wood block.

Also, I had to share these photographs of my precious daughter, Annalisa Grace with you. I know that they have nothing at all to do with painting or art, but they have everything to do with my life! Just look at those eyes!  She is almost 7 months old, learning to sit up and grab things. Adorable…  Sorry about the little crusties on her nose.  She's had a little cold and she hates having her nose wiped.

Painting #21 A cheerful Oil Painting for a Rainy Day

Better late than never! I’m sorry I’m posting this painting so late. I mean, technically, it’s the 22nd… but I haven’t slept yet, so it’s not the next day to me! I’ve spent the last three or four hours (I don’t really know any more… time has blurred into a paint smudge)diligently  painting, listening to the health care debate on the radio (don’t even get me started), and the rain falling on the roof. Along with the white oriental flowering bush, the one I’ve been painting previously, we have this lovely red one growing in our yard. It is stunning. So much so, I had to paint it for you. It is a 7 x 9 inch oil painting.

Check out my etsy page where you can buy this painting for a petty $21 as well as a couple others that haven’t sold yet. EmilyJeffords.etsy.com

And with that, I’m going to bed. Tomorrow will be a new day, with sunshine (please, oh please), and a new painting!

Painting #17 Butterfly Bush

Happy St. Patrick’s day to you! I’m sorry this painting isn’t more festive. I thought about it… I thought I could paint a little green guy, or a rainbow with a pot of gold… but it just wasn’t doing it for me. Sorry. Actually, I’ve never been a huge St. Patties day enthusiast, and not for lack of trying. I even bought a shirt a couple years ago, just for March 17th. I am wearing a green shirt today. Don’t pinch me. I hate being pinched.
Here is the not-so-festive-but-still-very-special oil painting-of-the-day! (That was kind of fun!) It is a 5.75x8 inch painting of some a bright red butterfly bush, with a dark butterfly in the left-hand corner. I love the dark background. It is so moody and dramatic. Also, I painted the edges so you don’t have to frame it if you don’t want to. Nice little bonus!

If you would like to purchase this painting to add a little color and drama to your home, go to my etsy shop. EmilyJeffords.etsy.com
Enjoy your St. Patrick’s day! Come back tomorrow to see painting #18!

Painting #11 "Revive" an oil painting

[[Written two days ago]] Hello!

Today (if all goes as planned) I will have gone to several concerts and speech recitals and spent time with my wonderful family. My sister, Rebekah, is an incredibly talented violinist, pianist, singer, and speaker. My brother, Matthew, is also very talented on the violin and piano. They are performing in several competitions today. I hope they do well!

My family lives in Findlay, Ohio (for now. They move around a lot...) It's a little city, comprised of a couple large companies, and a ton of farms. This painting reminds me of the very beautiful landscape around Findlay in the early summer. There are so many large fields, bordered by woods. This painting also reminds me of those early days of summer; when it's so warm and sunny and all of nature seems happy and revived.

This painting is an oil landscape in my favorite colors! It's 9x8 inches. I painted the edges red to give it a dramatic flare. If you would like to buy this painting email me!

Theartist.emily@gmail.com

The first person to email me wins! This painting is only $11.00!!! (Plus, $8 for shipping.) If you live in Greenville, you are more than welcome to come by my house and pick it up! We live near downtown, so it's nice and convenient.

As always, I greatly value all comments and critiques of my work. I want to dramatically improve my paintings this year, and your insight is priceless.
Check back tomorrow at 6:00pm for painting #12! It’s one of my favorite ones yet!

Painting #8 Cheery Blooms

I love the cheery blossom branches out in our yard! They're not really blooming yet, but they're getting close! I keep watching the buds swell more and more each day. They're going to be so beautiful when they do! I'm sure another painting will be along when that happens.

As for this painting.... it is a 5.5 square oil painting, on a block of birch wood. I painted the edges black to give it a framed effect. Very simple, yet sophisticated. I looks great sitting on a shelf, or mantle, or kitchen counter, or night stand, or desk.... ok, it would look darling anywhere... ; )

If you would like to purchase this painting, visit my etsy shop! EmilyJeffords.etsy.com

I would love your comments on this painting!  Check back tomorrow for painting #9!

Painting #1

It's here!!! The first of three hundred, sixty five!

This is an oil painting (worth WAY more than $1) But, true to my word, I'm selling the first painting for just $1.

This is a lovely, serene oil painting of a grassy field with hills or trees in the background. The sky is lit up in a beautiful, dusky, pink sunset. The painting is 7x9 inches. It's not framed, but would look beautiful in a simple black frame, or just displayed on a stand like I have shown.

You can buy it on my etsy shop!

I love painting impressionistic landscapes like this! You'll be seeming a couple more in the weeks to come!

I would love you comments on this painting!

Stay tuned!  Another painting will be posted tomorrow!
